You can't quite see it in these pictures (thanks to Sam being interested in posing for the camera) but Sam is sucking his thumb and has Kia's leg over him. He lays down by her side quite often now.
Cameron has been working on his Bears cub scout requirements. We took a bike ride today that was about 4 miles and he was barely breaking a sweat. HE was of course riding my bike (funny how that's a precursor to cars) and I "borrowed" Shawn's (who might not get it back because I REALLY like it. We talked and I showed him the route I usually run. Well, Cameron found an elective that required the use of a camera and he has been begging and pleading to use mine. I finally relented today so he could satisfy some of his insatiable need to snap photos. These are some of what he has done:
So being out of school was supposed to be fun in the sun and it's been more like boredom inside thanks to the moisture. Our lawn is really green but has to be mowed twice a week which of course never happens because its always raining so when I do mow it (believe it or not I enjoy mowing the yard--sick isn't it?) it's super thick and I have to empty the bag every three strips or less and then I run over tons of poop because I can't find it in the height of the grass and then it smells. Some good news thanks to the rain: We have been looking for a day to spray our weeds with weed killer-but it's never been dry enough long enough to spray them. So one dry day-at least dry morning I went into the back and wondered if I could pull the weeds up--I mean it IS easier to pull weeds after they have been watered right? Sure enough it was a cake walk. In the back corner, all my weeds were towering and they came out easily-and I didn't even fall on my behind this time (I did do that a few times because the weeds were winning). My roses all have some fungus growing thanks to you know what --I mean doesn't the sky know that roses are supposed to be drip watered so they don't get yucky spots on their leaves? My strawberries have been in full bloom and were yummy. I had a few cherries on my tree we picked; I thinned the peach tree; I have yet to thin the granny apple tree...hey dad, if you want to give me pointers on how to prune peach and apple trees I would be most appreciative. Tomatoes are definitely getting enough water, as are the pepper and zucchini. I have a zucchini plant by the strawberries where Kimball usually digs and I have repeatedly told him not to touch that plant while he is digging. He thought for a moment and then said he was going to help me dig up the weeds...starting with the one by the strawberries. He got me on that one--"THAT IS NOT A WEED!" Naturally he was laughing. Ha ha. (It's like the "Mom! I forgot my coat--you know when we were halfway through the 3 hour drive from Bath, NY to home and Mom turns around from the front seat and makes a gasping sound of shock--which we found hilarious (side note*it was CHRIS'S idea all the way--he MADE me.
Trenton is now officially 5. He has informed us that he is "off track" and will be going to school when the older boys do. I wonder if he will tell me his stomach hurts when I tell him it's time to do his homework--because that is what he tells me when he has to go to bed and he doesn't want to. Trenton also tells me he has to go #2 when he has to empty the dishes or sit in time out (Hey, Chris, do you think this runs in the genes--because I think he got it from you).
Sam thinks I need a water bed--he was being proactive and tried to "help" me get one the other day. I turned the mattress over and it was still through-and Shawn's pillow had to sit in the sunshine for a few hours before it dried out. I needed to change the bottom sheet anyway, I guess. Thanks for your help SAMUEL. He is cute in the mornings when he climbs into Shawn's spot and goes back to sleep. I think he has nightmares about his siblings because this morning I heard: "Open the door for me!" and he was quite agitated. (See Sam can't always open the front doors so he asks us to do it for him (OPEN DOOR ME is the scream) (did I mention my children are impeccably polite from a young age??)and we usually do)
Ok-I need to go to bed it is getting late but I wanted to post while my mind was on it. So there ya have it boys, girls, friends, enemies if you read this, aunts, ants, uncles, cats, dogs, mice, gerbils, scratch that I don't want gerbils reading this..but the rest of you are welcome to and I hope you have a nice enjoyable read whether during the day or night--whenever you happen to read this. For me its night--and Good Night.
