Occupations

Alright. I know lots of people who want their kids to be doctors, lawyers, and other high paying professionals. Not me. I have been thinking about what I want my kids to be and I think I have figured it out.
I would like one to be a carpet cleaner. I know that might sound lame but add four boys to your household with a fifth of animals and you will want one to. Then you can say to your son: "Hi, why don't you stop by tomorrow after work, then I will feed you your favorite dinner and dessert and then you can clean my entire house of carpets for free?" Or "How about I watch your kids for a week while you go on vacation with your wife if you clean my carpets?" I have heard of people (no names being mentioned here of course!) that make people take their shoes off when they enter their home. They do this to keep the dirt tracked in down and to keep their floors cleaner so they don't have to do much work (hence NO carpet cleaner in THEIR family). My problem is a little different. I don't mind the shoes as much--they end up being cleaner than the boys' BARE feet. So when my boys walk into the house with muddy feet, they don't obey the command to "Take off your feet!"
I cleaned my stairs tonight and if that wasn't the most disgusting blackish brown water I have seen...and that was only 6 stairs! (I had to empty the container twice and Yucko.) I thought about changing my flooring to something easier to keep clean and well nothing came to mind. Not wood floor, it's hard (duh it's wood) and I detest sweeping (that comes from a mother who wanted me to actually learn to do a good job and made me do it over and over until I did it right--which I should have done in the first place but I was a kid!); not tile, I don't like cleaning grout and it's harder than wood. I suppose I could do linoleum but again that requires sweeping and mopping (another detestable chore). Stuff that works outdoors would be durable enough but I'm not sure I really want the 'outside brought in' kind of look. So I guess carpet is quite convenient and is soft enough to lay on and isn't freezing in the winter and doesn't bring in unneccessary dirt or bugs. So that is why I will need one of my boys to be a carpet cleaner.
I would also like to have one of my boys be a pool constructer. Kimball and Trenton have been asking for a pool for some time now and I would love to oblige them. What would be completely unfair is if I never gave them a pool but had one dug in a future home for the grandkids. I am sure I would never hear the end of THAT. So one of my children could help me out by digging a pool and naturally maintaining it for me. I would also love to have a maid service clean my home...especially after I cook or bake. That would be the next job I would want. And I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to have personal laundry and dish service and clean any other mess service like me. I have one more child who would need an occupation.
And for the last child, I am thinking that construction might not be so great--DEstruction would be wonderful. When I get tired of the house I'm living in, I can have him take care of it for me. Or the pool gets damaged by an earthquake and needs replacing with a bigger and better pool, he is the one for the job. So I've got all my children covered.
No doctors or lawyers for me...nope, just carpet cleaners, pool specialists, maid services, and destruction. With those, I've got all my bases covered. (Oops, no baseball player!)
