I have recently been released from Primary after three years with the kids and called as the Relief Society chorister. What a relief. (If you don't get that don't ask.) I enjoyed working with the four to five year olds--though we had some chatty girls, and some rambunticious boys (Sam included). Now that I'm in the song picking calling, I have found some amusing things. Some of my topics and some of the songs I would like to put down (I won't because my mom would be mortified if I actually came out and told the RS pres what I would like to sing):
Topic: Eternal Marriage:
Now let us rejoice
The happy day has come at last
We are sowing
Let us oft speak kind words
Nay Speak no ill
Men are that they might have joy
Put your shoulder to the wheel
Topic: The Family can be eternal:
The morning breaks
Awake, Ye Saints of God, Awake!
Does the Journey seem long?
Come ye children of the Lord
Now the day is over
Through Deepening Trials
God Moves in mysterious ways
should you feel inclined to censure
(for boys in my home) The iron rod
Where can I turn for peace?
Battle hymn of the republic
I didn't pick these songs however much I wanted to. I just had a good laugh (I still laugh at my own jokes) and thought you guys might like to be in on the joke. I love the people I work with and am having fun in Relief Society. And as you can see, I'm having fun outside too!
