Time4Learning Review

I can't believe it's been almost an entire month since I have last posted.  I guess time flies when you are busy--and we sure have been that way.  This past month, I have used the site: time4learning.com to "try" to educate Kimball.  I had a free trial--well nothing is really "free"--but for the price of my review of how they are doing and what they are doing -it was free.  Now, I have to say upfront that Kimball didn't like it.  And it wasn't anything that time4learning.com did or didn't do--he just learns better doing the work himself on a piece of paper, wherever he wants, instead of sitting in front of the computer.  Since that is out of the way--I was impressed at the amount of information at the site.  They teach and have available math, grammar, language arts, games, etc.  I only used the preschool one and the 4th grade curriculum.

The preschool curriculum had two levels in it.  Sam clicked on level 1 and was entertained by the catchy songs, the animation, and the amount of subjects to learn about.  After hearing "the wheels on the bus" 30+ times, I helped Sam out by clicking on Level 2.  There were even MORE subjects with fun music and animation.  I was impressed with the quality of the preschool curriculum.

The 4th grade curriculum wasn't used as much as I had hoped it would be.  We used a few of the language arts lessons on comprehension, and also a few of the math lessons--such as long division.  The animated characters taught the concepts quite well, and repetitively.  From what I saw, all the subjects were covered in fine detail and made interesting to watch with short clips of animation and real live people in videos.  I really liked this site and would have used it more extensively if my student would have cooperated with what --I--- wanted.  I can definitely see how time4learning.com can be used as an effective teaching tool.

Now I just have to say something about the customer service.  Outstandingly excellently awesome.  If that is a sentence-which it's not-but that is how I could sum up their service.  I had some initial trouble logging on-which made for a frustrated mom--but I emailed them and they actually CALLED me about 15 minutes later and said the problem was fixed and I could just go ahead and get on.  I was surprised that an Internet company would get back to me that fast.  We weren't able to access the Playground portion of the site--which is a page of games that links to other educational sites--so I was disappointed in that.  I think you get what you pay for, and in time4learning.com, though it can be pricier than well--free--it is worth it if your child enjoys learning from the computer.  This would be the site to choose.

That's how my daughter is and always has been.(10)My daughter really likes a more hands on approach. She will do it but it's not always her first choice. My son on the other hand flourishes with Time4Learning. He has ADHD and something about the program just grabs his attention. I love there are so many choices out there for individual needs.
